Inspirit - Nutrition & Dietetic Consultancy
So let me tell you a little about myself. I graduated from Robert Gordons University in 2000, moving to Lancashire that summer to start my first post where I remained until the end of 2003. November 2003 saw a return home to Ayrshire and a new position. This position involved establishing and leading a dietetic service within a new innovative new team supporting the early discharge of older adults from hospital, as well as earning me to a Band 7 position when agenda for change came to fruition. As with many services it evolved through time to become bigger and it was this constant evolution that kept me there until I left in November 2022.
My time in the NHS has been exclusively within adult care, with a passion for the care of rehabilitation following illness, older adults and chronic disease management. I relish the challenge of complex cases – I truly love a good medical puzzle! In the last decade, my expertise has grown to encompass the nutritional care of adults with neurological conditions often requiring artificial feeding. It was during this time, working in a close knit intra-disciplinary I came to appreciate the importance of healthy aging in enabling fulfilling older years. As well as a clinical remit I also worked along side service managers in both health and social care, contributing to policy, service developments and training, advocating for those clients I cared for.
Out with my working life I am mum to a teenager daughter, a dog with anxiety issues and 3 guinea pigs. I understand the demands placed on us all in todays society. I bring a down to earth approach, cutting through the misinformation online, helping reduce the overwhelm and working alongside you to find achievable, sustainable and practical solutions that fit in with your unique lifestyle.
